Changing status of an Idea and entering a private or public comment are two separate actions. Today, status can change and no comment is sent to the submitter because we forget.
I'd like to see the Comment screen automatically come up/prompt anytime the Idea status is changed. It would also be nice if the comment screen already had a canned response that can be further customized by the Product Manager.
Automation for ideas is now included in two subscription plans: Aha! Ideas Advanced and Aha! Roadmaps Enterprise+. We also added the ability for automation rules to post an admin response to an idea based on a status change.
We will keep tracking this idea for a prompt to enter a manual comment.
I really like this idea -- for folks who are not familiar with the whole Ideas process, we should always give a little reminder about what the status change means. That said, I have also heard from clients that the messages about status change can get in the way of other conversation flow in the Idea. Could there be a separate section in an Idea for the status comments, rather than putting them in with the regular comments.
