Advanced Permission for Report creators

When I create a Roadmap or a report, I am effectively the owner. I can change any aspect of that report. However, at times I may be building it for someone else to use and manage, and I want the ability to change the ownership of that report at a later date.

This is the use case:

1. I have a product owner who is responsible for a product line, which includes around 15 products

2. I have created a view that we want to share with all of the Products and Associated Contributors - View Only

3. But I also want to give the Product owner who will manage the report, the ability to edit - View and Edit

Currently, I can only set view permissions or View and Edit permissions for Products. But I want to actually set different permissions for the Product line to the Products

I have trained the Product Owner to build and manage the report, but they can only have view access right now.

We would like to be able to use reports and dashboards for presentations to Execs. However, we just had a situation where a report was incorrectly updated right before an Exec presentation. We need to be able to institute change control by restricting edit permissions particularly before a large presentation. Ideally we'd be able to change them depending on when a report is being put together vs when it is final and ready for presentation.

Big +1 for this Idea! To paint a picture of the value this will bring, one of our system Admins who owns all of the reports and views that we have published on our sites is going on parental leave for year. This means, that without the ability to transfer ownership, I will need to make copies of these views and reports, then have our teams swap out the embed code for the new ones under my name, so that I can ensure the Views/Reports are updated, as needed.

Being able to avoid this workflow with a simple "change owner" feature would be amazing. Thank you!

I also agree that the view and view/edit options should be able to be set by user. We have multiple workspaces across out team, but one set of reports. I would like to have the option to set permissions differently as I would like to have a core two to three people on the team that can edit our standard team reports, all others view only access.

It would be very helpful to be able to provide editing access to just 1 user, or to provide a mix of editing and viewing access to different workspaces.

Being able to change the owner of a report (currently it is locked to “created by”) would be very helpful. If we share the links or webpages, team members prefer not to have to re-create them/ re-share links. This would reduce the number of reports

    We also need this functionality.
Currently the editing permission options are to "View only" or "View and edit". Additional options are needed so that you can grant Edit permissions to a sub-set of people who will "own" the report. At the moment the file edit permissions very basic and means that if you want to allow another person edit permissions on a report, you need to grant "View and edit" to everyone.

We have several reports that have been shared widely but the owner is no longer at the company, so we would like to update the owner. In addition, even the Admin role can't create a webpage for a report they are not the owner of which has also limited us when someone has left the company.

We would love to have this too. We have several reports that we only want specific people to be able to edit. Our workaround is to temporarily set the access to view and edit, allow the person to make the change, and then set the report back to view only. Big waste of time!
There are other similar ideas around changing how edit access works in reports.

This is also an important feature to help businesses maintain longterm continuity of reports/links, as the workforce continues to evolve through attrition and hiring.

I had a user reach out today trying to create a webpage view for an existing report …. Obviously, this user was not the creator… in the process we uncovered that the webpage view did exist, but that the user who created it had been disabled… thus, disabling the link.

As our organization continues to evolve, so will our user base.

Would love to see EDIT Roadmaps by user name, not just workspaces.

    Thank you for this idea!

We will consider it for future prioritization. In the meantime, the product owner who is taking over the report can use the 'Save as' option to create a copy of the report that they are the owner of.

Reports to be locked for edit by user

hi, The edit mode for reports provides edit to all users. Providing edit access for report to all product level users is not useful . It would be nice to specify the users who can only edit the report would be great .
