Enhanced Cross-Workspace Visibility in User Story Maps Merged

What is the challenge?

The current Aha! User Story Map does not allow users to view or manage releases, epics, and features from multiple workspaces simultaneously. This limitation creates a fragmented view of work, especially for cross-product initiatives.

What is the impact?

Lack of cross-product visibility makes it difficult to track features within a single epic or release that span multiple workspaces.

Users cannot effectively manage dependencies or align deliverables across different product lines or workspaces.

Hinders strategic planning and coordination for cross-product initiatives, reducing efficiency and increasing the risk of misalignment.

Describe your idea

Introduce functionality in the Aha! User Story Map to link ("Linked records"), view, and manage releases, epics, and features across multiple workspaces. This would allow:

  1. Cross-Workspace Linking: Users can associate features, epics, and releases from one workspace with those in another while maintaining their native workspace structure.

  2. Unified View: The User Story Map provides a centralized "god’s-eye view" of all features within a shared epic or release, regardless of their originating workspace.

  3. Enhanced Coordination: Enable users to visualize and manage dependencies across multiple products or product lines within the same User Story Map.

  4. Streamlined Navigation: Allow users to "open" linked features, epics, and releases directly from the User Story Map without switching between workspaces.

Use Case:

I manage multiple product lines, each with its own workspace. Often, cross-product epics involve features or tasks distributed across these workspaces. As I use the User Story Map to plan and manage upcoming releases, epics, and features, I need to:

  • Link and visualize features from other workspaces that belong to the same epic.

  • Have a comprehensive, single view of all cross-workspace activities within a release, epic, or feature. This enhancement would greatly improve visibility, planning, and alignment for cross-product initiatives.
