User Story Mapping

I would like to be able to have a user story mapping tool added to aha. This is useful in that it enables us to see what a priority of a release would be and what is a minimum viable product versus what would be added to a later sprint.

This would also be useful on the product backlog as we have over 400 items on there and it is very hard to see which the wood for the trees to prioritise them.

Yes, we do story mapping as part of our process and agree this would help.  Maybe an out of the box integration with an existing story mapping tool?

Since AHA! is a great Product Planning tool and User Story Mapping is one of the key processes we work with, having this feature would be great. It will help us product planning folks to centralize all decision driving data in one place.

As user stories are children of Features, they should be assignable to releases independently from the main feature but still be traceable from the feature. Currently I have to split the feature into multiples in order to assign them to releases.

I agree with the other comments that story maps are a key Product Owner process for us and it would be a nice to have something integrated with Aha. It's not clear to me how they'd be used in the Aha product hierarchy, but the way we use storymaps, they are more than just stories.

For us, the important part of a storymap are the steps that are described in the horizontal view (the individual stories are the vertical view). These are obviously a container for stories. So Aha would need a new construct that is a child to a feature, but a container for stories. Any thoughts on how to implement that with the existing data model?

I am actively looking at story mapping tools. Having it built into Aha in which Initiative and Features can be tracked in a story map would be ideal.

What about integration with ? That would really help as I use this for story mapping and would love to use it in conjunction with Aha.

This would be great, story mapping is an exercise we are just starting. Would be wonderful to have a work-space like that where we could pull from personas and initiatives, and cards could be promoted to stories or idea. Also looking at the tool to do story mapping sessions remotely

Storymaps are something i use on all my projects and are fantastic at taking the spine of the project and helping me to break the project into releases. It would be amazing if this could be implemented as it is a key agile tool.

Just for info, here is a link to the one I use currently ->

Having a story mapping feature in aha would further improve the product building and management process. Currently we manage story mapping offline (white board, sticky notes etc), but this is really cumbersome in the scheme of things. Once complete each of those cards has to be entered as a feature in aha and isn't ideal. It would be GREAT, if each of these "sticky notes" could be created in aha and then converted to feature cards once completes. This would be a great way to manage backlog items as well, as others have noted. If you want a good reference to what this would like like practically, this is a great video, starting at minute 13.

I am looking to be able to plan my Initiatives and Features (ie Epics and Stories) using Story Maps.  This is a very intuitive way for me to think through and design both what features need to be done and when they need to get done.

I am using Jira now for this but there are integration problems between Aha and Jira that are limiting me.

Please implement Story Maps in Aha so that I can do this all in one tool

As a quick fix, I asked for horizontal swimlanes on the Feature Board to group features by Initiative.  Feel free to vote that quick fix

Can you guys please give us a feedback if this feature will be coming next time? Currently I test and I'm so impressed that I begun to enter my specs and now I'm wondering how to map features and epics the visual way... It would be really a great enhancement!

We have several teams utilizing stories on board. Providing a similar capability within Aha! would allow us to more fully embrace Aha! as a solution within our organization.

Yes!  Please make this a high priority.  We have many teams across the Enterprise using different tools.  Adding this enhancement can decrease the amount of tools and get more users into the Aha! tool.

Engineering would like to do everything through Stories on Board and User Mapping activities and now in the projects where we are using SoB the integration with JIRA is now through SoB rather than Aha!... all the work we have done in Aha is being circumvented and now the Aha! spend is being questioned as well.  I want to only use Aha! Having this feature would help tremendously.

This is the missing link, it allows you to visualize high-level product ‘architecture’, something feature boards are woefully inadequate for.

Yes please as this will save POs a heap of time currently spent copy pasting Epics and Stories from story mapping tools. Also really useful to have the ability to slice out MVP and subsequent releases within Aha! which for us and other Jira users can be exported to the teams with no further manual intervention.

Would like to see it to. It combines all dimensions for planning. Now it is oriented on releases on a time scale. Before that can be done a picture on what can be put in wich release that can be pussed around a bit should be done before putting releases on a time scale.

Seems like a highly desirable feature.  It would be valuable to our organisation as well as it would prevent the need for custom fields to capture user story elements.  What is the likelihood of seeing this feature being developed in the near future?

We use to use and Both apps are great, but we lose time moving everything to Aha! when we are done. Now we set up some pivot reports to visualize our stories, but it's not ideal because we don't have the same level of interactivity. Having the ability to view products as story maps would be awesome!

    It's a great feature... but...

Things that need to be adding to this new feature, as right now it's quite frustrating to use.

    1. Duplicate User Storey Map
    2. Drag and drop a 'feature' from the 'edit master feature details' side panel (or just a link 'send to map' since you know where it belongs anyway.

    1. the columns auto slide to the right when they shouldn't
    2. It always adds a new 'release' every time you create a new Map
    3. when you add your own 'releases' the original 'release' that doesn't really exist, stays on the diagram wasting space.

not the best bug descriptions, feel free to contact me if you want more.

Thanks for taking the time to share feedback, Adam!

Ideas: Can you please create new ideas for the two you noted? This will help prioritize and gather community feedback. Also, sharing more context in the new ideas would be valuable to better understanding your use cases. For example, why duplicating a map is useful vs reusing the existing one with new releases for future improvements.

Bugs: These are areas that we are hoping to address shortly. Thanks for raising them!

    Thank you!
