Add ability to search for part of reference number when linking items

I know that if you put in the whole reference number you will be able to find the reference number (APP-I-2488). If you enter in partial of the reference number in the search field on the board view, it will find those that match the partial.

 

But when i am trying to link records together, only by entering the full reference number will it find a record. It would be nice to be able to enter in partial of the reference number so that i can see the full list of items in that area to link to.  You are able to type in partial of a word that is in the summary.

 

For example, i have to type in the full OEAGOVINK-87 instead of being able to just type in the OEAGOVINK to get a list to link items.

    Thank you for your idea. As noted, currently the reference number is searchable, but it will only return results when the entire reference number is included (for example ABC-317.) We explored making a change here to search by partial strings but determined that it would return so many results that it would not be as helpful as intended.

    At this time given the explanation above and other priorities, we are unlikely to make a change here. We hope you can understand.
