When I set the values of 'Goals' and 'Initiative' in an Epic, those choices should be automatically set for the Features within that Epic. As it is now, I need to go into each of the Features and set those values.
We are excited to announce a new automation capability for Enterprise+ customers.
Automation rules can be used to streamline a variety of tasks in Aha! and may help with this idea.
In this case you would want to create a master feature automation rule like this
When the master feature's initiative is changed to 'initiative x'
Then update the feature's initiative to 'initiative x'
A separate rule would be needed for each goal or initiative.
Learn more about automation rules.
We will leave this idea open to consider a more tailored solution for this idea in the future.
This looks like it may be a similar idea to: https://big.ideas.aha.io/ideas/A-I-8802
This automation rule, works when updating the Epic and cascading to existing features that are already linked to it.
However, the more common use case of adding a new feature and then linking it to the Epic does not seem to be covered by the available automation rules.
I would need an additional option as part of the trigger to have a comparison on a related record.
Example:
When a feature is created or updated and its "related record" "Epic" "Initiative" "is" "Initiative A"
The: "Update Field" "Initiative" to "Initiative A"
This would increase flexibility of automation rules (which I am sure is an Idea elsewhere)
However, even then this is not a scalable solution, since I would need to create 2 automation rules for each new initiative.
When it doesn't default, then it can impact reporting because because we are relying on a manual updates which is flawed.
