Custom field cloning across idea, feature and release

We always have a need to pass on information from a custom field created in idea to feature and or a release. This could be implemented in a custom field creation, add a checkmark to select which section should the custom filed be cloned to. Lets say you are making custom field in ideas, if you select clone to feature and release this field will be shared among. The data will also be shared among all selected application items for this custom field.

the existing feature is fine,  but only works at time of copying.  I think it would be great to be able to keep these things in sync over time

This idea was not marked correctly - it should have been "Already exists". It is how Aha! works now. If you define the same custom type and use the same custom field key for both ideas and features then custom fields will be copied when an idea is promoted to a feature.

Great to know that the "key" value is the key (pun intended) to a successful linkage between ideas and features.  Personally, I believe that there should be a sync button (outer join between idea and feature fields) or an option for an automatic sync.  It seems fairly prevalent (naturally) that people are requesting a tighter linkage between ideas and features.

When an idea is promoted to a feature each custom field value is copied from the idea to the feature if there is a matching custom field on the feature that has the same type and has the same 'key' value.
