Ability to stack rank ideas

While the scoring mechanism for ideas is helpful, we would also like the ability to rank order the list of potential ideas as we work them through high-level design.      Essentially, have the drag-and-drop capability for ideas that exists on features.

    Admin Response

    Thank you for the request.

There are a couple workarounds which can help you achieve this. As you likely know, there is the Ideas -> Chart page. You can filter your specific idea categories and drag and drop them to automatically score ideas on the chart. This would allow you to visualize how they stack against each other.

It's also possible to promote your ideas to features (for the ones that you are strongly considering) and place them into the Parking lot to drag and drop to stack rank.

Based on the current available workarounds and current priorities, we are unlikely to make updates in this area, but we hope that this can at least help. We hope you can understand.

I have just run into the same need. The chart is cool but it is a means to ranking, not a rank in itself. And I want to rank my ideas BEFORE I turn them into features. I'll probably work around by creating a custom field "rank" for my Ideas, but wouldn't it be cool if I didn't have to do that... my implementation has so many custom fields already. I am so excited (I am not excited) to add yet another.

Yeah, this is not really a great Admin response. Scoring is one of the features my team struggles with the most, and we don't use it as a result. I know we should get better at that, but in the meantime, just the ability to arbitrarily stack rank ideas - like almost every other item in the Aha data model - would be extremely useful to keep our ideas ordered consistently.
