Exclude weekends on Releases portfolio (gantt) phases and milestones

1. Exclude weekends altogether, so that my week only shows Monday through Friday without Saturday and Sunday (since I am planning working periods, and I don't want to plan weekends). Right now, the "hide weekends" option toggles a gray vertical line on and off.

2. Related to this would be the ability to create phases and milestones that automatically take only business days into account. So a week-long phase would be 5 days, not 7 days, for example. A milestone would automatically be populated on the first business day available.

3. Related to #2: Ability to create templates of phases and milestones that only take into account business days.

We have launched the ability to hide weekends from the Releases roadmap. This helps to make it even easier to plan when key release phases and features will get done and visualize how dependencies may impact your schedule.

You can read more about this new update here: http://blog.aha.io/visualize-release-schedules/

Some have also mentioned interest in the ability to create phases and milestones that automatically take only business days into account. Along with the ability to create templates with only business days. We have created a separate idea, which you can vote on to subscribe to those updates: https://big.ideas.aha.io/ideas/APP-I-4181

This was raised ages ago, as a new user I've hit this issue immediately.

Is there any update on when this feature will be implemented?

Since you're incorporating a gant chart/project planning module, this would be minimum viable functionality.  Otherwise, the gant chart, release planning and related elements are useless to me, because I'm going to have to go build the whole thing in MS Project to get an accurate view.

Hope we can add this soon. As previously mentioned, it would help to simplify the elaboration of roadmaps and project timelines (providing more accuracy).

It looks like this still isn't implemented. This is an absolute basic need. I hope it will be implemented ASAP

I am surprised this isn't a standard feature from the outset. This needs to be implemented otherwise it makes the whole point of what they are trying to do drastically reduced in value to a customer.

If I want to have an entire group wide of companies and their programmes put in there for a complete view, it just isn't managable and adds 30mins every release for every manager needing to look after their programme. Pointless waste of time for something that is standard in many other tools.

I'd like to this feature reconsidered... I think that perhaps the impact was not well understood?  I love the phases and milestones, it help me see the overlap and we have a pretty standard process that should work great for this BUT my 3 day phases that back into each other should take a week and a day, but the way it is set up now, it take a week and a saturday and starts the next phase.  It means that I need to go back and edit all the phases to adjust.

I can go in and make the second phase 2 + weekend + 1 = 5 days, but if there is a holiday or we delay the start for any reason the whole schedule is off again!

Super time consuming to manage this manually!!

Ditto. I couldn't believe that weekends just counted as work days and that there was no clear way to exclude this. Literally less than an hour into my trial I stumbled across this issue and it's making me seriously reconsider whether Aha is the right tool, if this glaring oversight reared its head so quickly.

definitely this needs to be added - we are not using MS project now and this is an MS project feature we took for granted.

This feature would be very helpful. Essential to accurate project timelines.

Is this in the roadmap yet? My team is finding it hard to roadmap with weekends included.

Something we definitely need in order to properly use templates.

I think you need to consider weekends as Friday - Saturday and Saturday - Sunday.

Or let the admin set weekends.

I think you also need an adhoc weekend inclusion when time gets short and we need to work the weekend.

For us this is an essential feature that's missing. We've tried using the 'Hide Weekends' and appears to be a bug as not working (doesn't hide the weekends). Assume this would exclude those days if it did work?

Our ideal would be to show the weekends in the gantt chart view but they would be automatically 'non-working' days.

It would also be good to be able to input Public Holidays globally as these are also 'non-working' days for our company.

I would like to be able to select the scale of the Gantt chart also, showing every single day of a 6 month project is painful.

I really have no idea how a story that takes more than a day or two can be managed in the gantt chart?  It is inevitable some will need to be built over a Friday and Monday,

These feature would be useful as planning a project is difficult when every day is a working day.

These features would also be useful for us. Often we put phases into the template or release that we know take say 3 days, but if that phase happens to fall on a weekend we have to manually change the dates. Worse still is then if we move the whole release then the new duration is kept so what should be a 3 day phase stays at 5 days. A lot of double work involved to keep the gantt chart correct.
