Automatically change marketing activity status based on time in status

In our company, all marketing materials need to go through a review process on a yearly basis. We plan to start using aha to help facilitate that review process, however there is no way for us to automatically change the status of a marketing material from Approved to Expired based on the time lapsed after the material's approval date or the date changed to approved workflow status.  The best we could currently do is a report, however that wouldn't alert the material's sponsor through email that they have an expired material out there.

We could also set a to-do with a due date of 1 year out, but that's manual and even more prone to error  than the report concept (people may forget to add the to-do). Plus it would clutter up the sponsor's to-do list with some unnecessary renewals.

It would be a lot easier if we could just change the workflow status automatically based on time in status or an approved date.
