What is the challenge? |
When I create release templates and/or copy releases or release phases, I end up with (as you would expect) copies of the children. This is the desired behavior. The issue comes when I try to map dependencies to these children ... they (as you would expect) all have the same name. In the dependency mapping window, I cannot see the parents or the hierarchy ... which means I see tons of repeats of the same names (the children) and I don't know which child to choose b/c I can't see to which parents they belong. |

Describe your idea |
I could imagine solving this in different ways. The easiest might be to just show the parents (or the full hierarchy) in the dependency selection box. An alternative could be -- when you create from a release template or create a copy of an element with children, having an option to prepend the hierarchy into the field name of the children. This approach would have the benefit of making the children easily identifiable in all of the selection windows, reports, etc. without having to modify all of those sections of the app. |
