When an Idea is Promoted to a Feature, Automatically Copy Idea's *Subscribers* (as well as Watchers) to the Feature. And, Sync the Watchers & Subscribers to JIRA

Hi All,

We are having some trouble keeping an idea's subscribers & watchers in the loop on the idea ticket from its conception through completion. The fact that people can subscribe & watch ideas is great (we find the email updates very helpful) - so we'd like to essentially carry this functionality on through the idea's feature promotion, and through it's sync to JIRA.

PART 1

- This ticket relates to this one https://big.ideas.aha.io/ideas/APP-I-908 but is also requesting for subscribers (in addition to watchers) to be to be carried over when the idea is promoted to a feature, so that subscribers can also get email updates when the feature changes.

PART 2

- Once the feature has subscribers and watchers (carried over from the idea), when the feature is sent to JIRA, we'd like to create the ability to also send the subscribers & watchers to JIRA (ie; the subscribers and watchers will automatically be CC'd on the JIRA ticket).

Thanks,

Alex

    Thank you for the request.

We've launched a recent update related to I-908 which allows Idea watchers to be carried over as feature watchers. Any idea subscribers will also get updates when the feature and idea is shipped.

However, regarding syncing subscribers and watchers to JIRA, we are unlikely to make updates in this area as these users will continue to get the updates on the feature as they occur. We hope you can understand.

I don't understand the response given for the sync of watchers between JIRA and Aha.

If I add myself as a watcher in JIRA. it is important for users within Aha to see who is also watching the item. The same is true the other way around.

Also, if I decide to remove myself as a watcher from JIRA. I would want to see this in Aha as well as I am saying I don't want to receive updates from either system. If you don't want that mechanism to occur, don't have the field mapping. If you do - have the field mapping.

It seems you are able to assign users to reporter and assignee, so why not watchers functionality?

It is becoming a grating issue for one of the clients worked with where this problem occurs.

Hi there, could you confirm how the idea portal user can become a watcher on the feature (and thus, get updates when that sync'd ticket progresses in JIRA)?

    Add'l Context:

The Idea subscriber basically gets a notification when the feature is planned and when it’s done (shipped). For us, we have several statuses between those two milestones to indicate exactly where it is in the scoping and build lifecycle - we want to be able to send email updates to subscribers whenever those detailed statuses change. Note – reporting does help with this, as we’ll be sending reports on the status of all features weekly. However re: the integration to JIRA, what we’re doing now as a workaround is, when we sync the feature to JIRA, we’re manually adding all the subscribers to the JIRA ticket so they can follow the lifecycle. The brands & product owners are very collaborative and are constantly commenting back & forth on a given feature thus the reason we want full transparency.
