When I'm configuring my timeline it would be nice to select either the 'Released on Date' OR 'External Release Date' in the two field. It's often that the release will ship either before or after the scheduled release date and I'd like to be able to represent that with a revised roadmap. I'd like to keep track of scheduled dates vs. actual dates. I've already created a custom field for an original release date to keep track of changes in the scheduled release date but we could still ship a release different than the scheduled dates.
This is possible today. When selecting data points, be sure to select both the "Released on date" and "External Release date" as data objects. This will then make both available in the drop-downs.
No, that's not what I'm looking for. I'm creating a grid of the count of project releasing in a specific quarter. I need to be able to answer the question of how many project where delivered. Attaching an example of where I'm at now, I'd like the quarter across the top to reflect either the 'Shipped On' date or the 'External Release Date' if the release hasn't shipped yet. I'll most likely add a status still to break out the data further but you'll get the idea.
Have you tried adding columns for both the "Released on Date" and the "External Release Date" to the Cells area? Doing so could show you the comparison of the two on your timeline view.
