Kanban Board - Work-in-Progress (WIP) limit for status columns

Reference: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kanban_board

Work-in-progress (WIP) is a key design principle for Kanban. The ability to limit the number of items for each status column is part of the Kanban workflow. The limits per column should be user assignable and display their status on each column. There should be an option to allow or disallow adding items to a column that has reached it's limit.

We have made a variety of improvements to the Workflow page, including the ability to see estimates by column and assignee.

At this time, we do not have plans for additional updates in this specific area based on community feedback and current priorities. However, we hope that the recent additions will help. We hope you can understand.

    UPDATE 2022-02-10:

You can now add WIP limits to your workflow board in Aha! Develop. This allows you to highlight bottlenecks and blockers in your process and improve team efficiency.

We could really use this feature in ESW. At the moment, to see WIP limits on an initiative workflow, I have built a workaround involving a pivot to count the items in each state, then adding that to a presentation with the WIP limit in static text over each column.

This is obviously not ideal as the WIP limits are hidden from the normal view and are on a separate page.

Given that WIP limits are a fundamental part of Kanban, and Kanban is implemented with Workflows like this in Aha, as others have said, it feels like a miss that they are not available.

We could also really use this feature.

Agree with the below comments. This is a key principle in Kanban and would provide significant benefit to the teams

Agree with Joe and Jonas. WIP-limit on Kanban would be great to enable efficient kanban flows.

As said by others, this is a key design principle. Please reconsider.

Hello - I would really like this to be reconsidered as it is a few years later and the impact of this request is very beneficial.

The issue is that the WIP limits would allow us to manage our work more effectively to find GAPS and bottlenecks within our process. It would be great if it is can be set at the configuration of the workflow board.

The benefit can help provide learning that will help make a team work more efficiently. Allow teams to self organize to help each other move active work to the finish line.
