The new Kanban board feature is excellent for managing feature workflows, but it would be equally good for managing idea workflows.
Let us know more about how you would use a kanban / workflow board for idea management. Which idea statuses would you have as columns on the board and how many ideas would be in each? How big an impact would this make on your ability to manage ideas?
I would typically use this to manage a NOW, NEXT, LATER roadmap, rather than the clunky and date driven roadmaps which I find totally unfit for purpose to provide quick and easy ways of sharing a roadmap.
The date driven roadmap, means as soon as you put dates on them, stakeholders expect and will try to hold you to these times.
I would have 5 columns on the roadmap, consisting of:
Recently released - to demonstrate and share what has been released, typically the now column elements that have been released
Now - the things we are looking at now
Next - what we will look at after the work in Now
Later - what we will look at later, typically will need further discovery
Future Considerations - things we may be working on in discovery to determine the value of adding to the roadmap, but creates conversations around these from stakeholders
In terms of numbers, I would have no more than 6 items per column. Having a kanban style way of managing the roadmap would be a game changer from a time saving and ease of use perspective and will allow us to continue to disconnect timeframes from the roadmap. I am really surprised that Aha forces and thinks this way in terms of dates, which is more akin to project management that product management.
We have received a request for this from colleagues and are tracking an idea internally for it, I think it is worthy of revisiting.
We need this too to manage ideas, We got lots of ideas that answer the same need... we cannot make groupe easily
This feature would be an excellent addition to the software product. Why would we want to exclude a visual workflow management display from ideas? Our idea management relies on statuses, just like features and Id like to be able to manage ideas just like how I manage features.
Ideas can be a bear to manage, especially in volume. This would make for an easy to use visualization to prioritize ideas have a better understanding of where things are at.
We also need this feature!
@Nathaniel Collum, The columns would be the status yes, like the features. If we can order top to bottom by score it would be even cooler. Thanks!
Has this been evaluated once more? We need this too!
We certainly have a need for this as well.
We struggle without a good Idea visualization tool similar to your Feature board. We are managing our Ideas along the classic funnel; ideally we need something like dragging post-it notes across a whiteboard.... just like your Feature Board. Sure, we can create filters and columns in your list view, but in that case... Aha is no better than just using Excel. Ultimately we find ourselves promoting Ideas to Features quickly, just so we can then manage that funnel; but that introduces limitations in how we use Aha in other ways. Also , yes, we've tried the Idea Chart view, but that doesn't work for other reasons (UI isn't very conducive to more than few items). Put me down for 2 more votes on this idea ;)
As part of our process we several ideas. Ideas could be features, or they could be products. A lot of them move through different stages of evaluation before it makes sense to promote them to a "Feature" in aha.
I too would appreciate Kanban for Ideas
Would be great to Ideas more visual in the same way features are drag and drop.
We have a review workflow for ideas before we promote them to features. This workflow would be good to visualize with the same type of Kanban as for features.
