Add "flair" tags similar to how Reddit uses them. These would appear as colored tags on the ideas portal - similar to how the statuses are displayed, but they would be a custom field that the user could complete upon submitting an idea.

When using pre-defined lists a lot of there time you may require an "Other" option were a user would then free type what the "Other" was. This would be a good addition as a standard option within pre-defined lists.
