We need the ability to have one choice list field present a list of values that depend on a selection that was made in another choice list field in the same record.
For example, I might have a choice list field in an idea that asks the idea submitter to select the area within the product the idea relates to. Another choice list field then requests the user choose a more specific area (from a list that is based on the first choice selection the user made).
Now I can produce a report that shows, at a high level, the percentage of ideas submitted over the general area of the product. And I can also have a report that 'zooms in' to an area and shows the general distribution of the ideas within that one area of our product.
Right now, the second choice list is the entire list of possible sub-product categories, which means we can get invalid data which reduces the value of the reports and the data.

You can create a new custom field that filters available options based on what was selected in a previous field.
This works across as many levels as you need, so you can build cascading taxonomies like country → state → city or product area → sub-area → component.

Would you please confirm whether there's a plan to allow this field type map to Jira? For now it does not seem to be selectable in Jira mapping.
We are SO excited for this! As the usage evolves, the ability to choose what type of field rather than just "Add choice" would be ideal.
Example:
Label 1: Is this work funded?
Choice: Yes, No
Label 2 (if Yes): What is the funding amount? (Right now we have to break into ranges to create choices rather than the ability to write in free text)

Hello, I need this functionality to set up a RACI matrix using custom tables and select the corresponding activity based on the project stage before defining responsibilities.
We want this to be able to map out our product and track where we get ideas, shipp features etc. Important that these can be used on multiple levels - i want to catagorize product, process and feature on ideas, features and epics minimum.
Nested pick-list through custom fields will be a very valuable capability. I am trying to associate Feature with NIST CSF framework which has a hierarchical structure and not having this capability has been a challenge.
This would be such a value add for our organization as well!
