Allow for mix of preformatted & paragraph text

Right now I don't seem to be able to stop using preformatted text. 

So, in the attached examples I want two chunks of preformatted text, with some paragraph text between explaining, However the UI only seems to allow me to have everything below a point preformatted, or nothing. 

When I attempt to select the text "So for example" and set it to paragraph all preformatting is turned off.

This is on Ubuntu / Chrome
