I can't tell you how many times I have found a portal comment that needs to be internal. I have to open the comment, copy the text, create a new internal comment, paste the text, save it, then go back to the original comment and delete.
You can now give portal users the option to comment privately. These private portal comments can only be seen in the portal by your internal portal users. Hopefully this will reduce the need to turn portal comments into internal comments. You can learn more in today's blog.
Raising this issue again. I just imported 275+ ideas with multiple comment threads from a recent acquisition, so there is no plausible workaround.
I disagree with the assessment that "it does take a few clicks to do this." Select-copy-tab-create-paste-tab-delete is not a few clicks, it's seven steps. Plus, as other users have mentioned, it loses metadata like the comment creator and created date. A simple "make this comment private" button would be a huge help!
We are starting to allow customers access to the Ideas Portal now, so this is becoming a significant concern. It is a tedious, manual effort to clean up data for existing Ideas, and a security risk for those customers who include detail they should not, when submitting new Ideas.
In addition, I would like to be able to do this via Bulk Edit. E.g Create a list report of Ideas, select 1+ ideas, can convert Public Comments to Private or vice versa.
Yes we are using the workaround. Just a bit of a faff if you’ve got lots to move from private to public. It also changes the date and the creator which isn’t ideal.
can we revisit this request?
Agreed.
