I'd like to be able to produce a Now/Next/Later Agile Roadmap from Aha. I can kind of do this by adding a custom "timeframe" field to the releases and creating a custom pivot report. Unfortunately, the pivot report creates a vertical list of things to do which will create a prioritization in the eyes of anyone who looks at the next and later backlog. What I want to represent is that next and later are up for grabs in terms of prioritization.
It would be great if I could produce something like this instead.
Release time frame | 3 months |
Introducing the Now, Next, Later roadmap
Visualize the high-level time frames for delivering work — so you can showcase your plans before committing to specific delivery dates.

Thank you for this functionality, it is a great start. Please add 'Releases' as a data type that can be put on a NNL roadmap. They can already be rounded to the month, quarter, half, year, but currently individually only. Sometimes features are too granular (and too numerous) for a stakeholder roadmap.
Awesome that is being planned to be implemented - would be great if it can be like other set up aspects of Aha where the default is Now / Next / Later however you can configure name change for example Now = Commit, Next = Planned, Later = Intended. Allows organisations to use the terminology that is likely already established for roadmap prioritsation and communication.
100% this functionality is needed. As I am moving our organization away from waterfall, having the ability to focus on NNL easily is paramount. As it is now, I am making slide decks (YUCK)
I would love to see Now | Next | Later in a board view (similar to the Features Board / Features Workflow), so that I could easily move Epics, Features, and Initiatives from Later to Next to Now.
100% need this, the work arounds of keeping slide decks up to date is just a pain. Especially when the competitors all have a way of providing a simple to consume now, next later view of the roadmap.
Absolutely. In today's business landscape, a Now/Next/Later roadmap framework is table stakes. Really hoping to see this from Aha! in the very near future so we can continue to leverage the tool.
Agreed. Can't wait to see this feature added.
Please, please, please. This is one of the biggest blockers for getting my organization to support this tool. We are having to export and update slides in powerpoint or another tool. I do not even use your slides tool because without now, next, later it is useless.
Even at least as a min let us use the Time Frame feature on epics and feature items.
Or as a BARE min provide a roadmap view we can manually say "time frame date x to date y" label as "Now", "time frame date a to date b" label as "Next" and "time frame date c to date d" label as "Later". Let us relabel roadmap views.
I really really really love everything else about Aha, but I still cannot fathom why you continue to refuse this. I realized today how much ridiculous configuration I have to do in your tool just to get around this very simple thing. If you are never going to provide this, please explain why in a formal, detailed statement. I've stayed on using your tool in hopes that given how popular this idea is that you will do the right product management thing and solve the problem, but alas here we are...four years later.
I keep getting asked by my finance people what the value of Aha is if the only collateral the organization sees out of it are still powerpoint slides, excel docs, and jira items. Please help me make my business case for keeping Aha clear by providing this ability ASAP. I'm so disappointed that you have built a Jira competitor tool before trying to solve this basic thing in Roadmaps.
Would love Aha to support this. Any idea on where we are with this?
This is curently one of the only reasons we aren't going with Aha! for our roadmap tool as of now :(
This is functionality that is becoming more essential for product teams that should be out of the box. As has already been mentioned - your competitors already have this and I see this as a big weakness to Aha. I am currently struggling to set up my Aha instance to achieve the roadmaps that I need because it needs dates to make it make sense - we do not work in that way. Please do something about this.
I wholeheartedly subscribe to what's being commented below. I find this a major gap in what is overall a very good product. A now/next/later roadmap is considered table-stakes today for any PM tool out there (everyone has it). We desperately need one OOTB, not wasting time with pivots and custom fields (notwithstanding that even if you a pivot it looks bad from a visual POV, we are getting this feedback over and over again from everyone in the business). Please solve this!
This not being offered out of the box might become a show stopper for us (current customer). Aha's adoption by Product managers, being actually viewed by the rest of the organization, is severely limited by insisting on dates. Sure, you can create custom roadmaps, pivot tables and what not that hide dates, but the dates actually drive the graphics on the more useful roadmaps models (strategic, feature etc). Your roadmaps seem to be more release plans than roadmaps in modern PM terms, actually. Again, the problem with release plans is that they're tactical. You offer dates to the org, they will start to ask for dates. And yes, the PMs hate having to pull dates out of thin air (even a "Q3 next year" type of date estimate), so the Aha Roadmaps update is always a drag, causes the roadmaps to be outdated, which causes for the rest of the organization to ask for powerpoints again anyway. Not having a true Now, Later, Next Roadmap defeats the purpose of the tool Productboard, ProdPad and all the other modern competitors have it.
There is a way to accomplish this now using calculated columns.
You can start by using some existing data on the record, like the dates or timeframes to calculate the now, next, later value in a calculated column in a list report. More on that here: Aha! Roadmaps | Perform calculations on data in list reports
You can see an example where we've done this with the timeframe of an initiative.
That will then populate the data in a list report as you can see in the last column below
That I can then easily change to a pivot
I realize this takes some upfront work, but hopefully it will help!
I totally agree with all these comments. This is very standard product management practice. Instead of exporting from Aha, we have to recreate roadmaps in powerpoint, which decreases the value/stickiness of the tool.
I would like to see this in the custom roadmaps.
I love using Aha!, but am astonished that Now/Next/Later roadmaps are not supported out of the box. The workaround with pivot tables is disappointing, and showing dates on a roadmap is too misleading...
Thanks!
Seconding this ask. Crucial feature for modern product management.
This is a hard block for me. Awesome software, but it makes it unusable if I need always to define dates. Moreover, all your competitors already have a similar model.
This would be absolutely monumental. The need to commit to dates is SUCH a challenging item, and it can present an incorrect picture for customers
How is this not a thing? We are currently assessing Product Planning tools and I'm blown away that in 2022 a product planning tool doesn't have a now/next/later roadmap. Every tool we've assessed has it except Aha and its table stakes functionality for modern Product teams!
