Ability to add phases to master features

We'd like to be able to add custom phases to a master feature - at the moment I believe you can only add/include features. At the moment phases can only be added to a release, but we would like to be able to add some requirements gathering phases, UAT etc. to give a more comprehensive view / end-to-end delivery timeline for the master feature.
