Search should include custom tables Merged

I have a custom table with a list of customers and various fields holding some attribute information about each customer.  Custom table info is not sortable by any specific field, so it makes it really hard to find a customer to update/append the record information when I need to.  Sorting would be OK, but searching the custom tables would be far faster as the size of the contents in the table grows.
