Creation / association of custom field layouts should apply to visualization as well as detail view Merged

Our company has multiple product lines and multiple products.   We want the product managers to follow consistent practices and generate consistent reports.  Additionally, we want the executive team to be able to navigate across all the product families and see the same information organized the same way.   If the visualization of the layout changes, we will certainly cause confusion.
