We plan to use the Aha! reports to status on strategic planning with Executive Management. A challenge I am having is the overall presentation & cleanliness of the layout based on the different types of content.
For columns & rows that include lengthy content, it would be great to be able to manually adjust the row & column width/height to make for a cleaner presentation. This functionality would be similar to that of Excel. Using the 'Wrap Text' functionality is helpful but it would be really helpful to have more control over how the report looks from a cell size perspective.
You can now customize column widths on list and pivot reports — so you can quickly craft and share your beautiful reports.
Checkout the blog post for more information.
It appears that you can only shrink a column width to that of the column title. We often use a report where we break out the AHA score components. Unfortunately, the column titles in this case are lengthy, e.g. "Time Criticality (WSJF Scorecard A.B)" while the contents are small. It would be great to be able to condense these columns down for readability.
thanks. looks like someone reverted the change on the description field
Laura please let support@aha.io know if you are seeing something different than you expect. I don't think there has been any change to the layout of lists or pivot tables that will be affecting your reports.
Testing in production isn't ideal for us as we now see our idea views altered and now having to scroll because the description field in a list layout no longer fits on the page (within the aha app, not notebook).
I would really like to be advised of these types of breaking/changes if the expectation is that we now have to go back and resize every one of our views & related reports/notebooks.
Hi -- we are in the final stages of getting this feature ready for our customers and hope to ship it in the next couple weeks.
The idea was accidentally shipped this morning which caused the change in status. We are currently actively testing it in our own Aha! account and are excited to soon deliver this key improvement.
Hi Ron,
It would be great if you could give us some context to why this feature was moved back from Shipped to Planning to Implement.
This feature will be big win for us and our ways of reporting
Thanks
Hi Ron, What happened here? This morning the status was moved to Shipped and now we are back to Planning to implement?
Definitely agree, this is critical to allow us to produce well formatted reports to the Board and for clients as well. In my case I have added a column with a long URL, and that causes that column to be very wide, everything else including descriptions to be squashed to one side. Being able to set column widths would be great, and ensure it can force wrap long URLs.
Thank you for the interest in this request. We are actively working on an improvement which will provide greater control over the column widths so that the cells in your reports will can be better displayed.
Any update on the timing on this?
Adjusting the widths of columns in a pivot report would be great as once you have about 4 columns your timeline starts compressing and the columns end up taking more of the page than the timeline.
Definitely an issue for us as well. Am having to extract and format exec reports in Excel instead which is a pain. It seems to base the width on the column description which usually bears no resemblance to the ideal width for your data. We use Custom Tables and it also appends the table name on to the column descriptions making them even bigger than just with the descriptions.
A manual width adjustor that wraps the description would be a start. Being able to edit the column headers would be a further improvement.
This would be incredibly useful, the starter roadmap and the strategy roadmap are both great, but when there is a lot of text it would be very helpful to be able to increase row heights and column width
We also want the ability to adjust the column width within a list report. We have created a field called clients and then add client names for candidate projects. The challenge is that if you have a lot of clients every other column gets squished and makes the list report less usable / readable to stakeholders.
The solution needs an option whereby rich-text descriptions (e.g. of ideas) can be shown in a table as plain-text snippet. Then it's easy to see a word or character limit (in addition to a desired column width).
Can we add the options for border feature? And colors for the column headers?
Being able to adjust column width in the Feature List view is important for me. It should also remember the width you set for a given column so that when you come back to that screen you don't have to re-adjust the columns.
I agree. I created a timeline report and the left column is small (width) and the long names wrap down several lines.
This solution should also consider fields in all Aha! table displays, e.g. display of Feature Description / Comments in a List format should allow a manual override the the column width so lists can be made more readable where required.
