Update a release to "in progress" when the first feature is "in progress"

When the first feature of a release enters development the release is now logically "in progress."

Currently, as a product manager I need to manually update the status for my releases which is a good thing, BUT... As part of my workflow we have a pre-development phase for releases where initiative is transferred to the development team.  The development team is free to start working on features for the release, and won't always notify me that they have started working on that particular feature.

It would be logical for the status of a release change to "in progress" as soon as a feature is updated to an "in progress" status (by JIRA or other), so stakeholders can see the most current status of a release in development.

Currently updating releases and features is a manual process and there are not any automate updates which occur between the two. While this workflow makes sense, there is a simple manual workaround as a solution.

At this time, based on the effort required for this request, the current workaround and overall priorities, we are unlikely to make changes in the near term.
