What is the challenge?

Getting estimates from people is a slow process, they are rarely correct and are often influenced by politics or hidden agendas.

What is the impact?

Plans are rarely accurate, estimates are padded to make people feel safe. Opportunities are lost because the effort is too big and impacts the perceived value.

Describe your idea

Using statistical modelling, create a suggested development time frame field on features.

It looks at the development team that has been assigned to it, meta data (e.g . t-shirt sizing ) and the level of risk you are prepared to accept for a given date range.

This date is then visible to the PM and they can use that in their planning of phases or simply update the feature start and end dates with that data.
