Road map discussions are often broad discussions reaching to the future. I know you can add milestones to Gantt charts but they are not visible on any of the road map views we use for customers, partners, IBM etc. Gantt charts are internal for us. |
How should it work? |
Many roadmaps in other products have the ability to add a flag for a key future date for an event not specifically part of the release such as an external event that has some impact. Examples might be:
The flag would be small with small text and available in colours. Add controls as with other Roadmap settings w.g. tags, to view/hide for maximum flexibility. I have internal and external road map features view and I may wish to hide some milestones on on of those views. |

I was stoked to see this released, but then I was bummed to see that milestones aren't connected to a workspace. If I want to create two different custom roadmaps, I can't reuse the milestones across those roadmaps. Unfortunately, I don't see us using this.

In addition to the scenarios above, we'd like to show other pertinent dates like market events, strategic conferences, key customer launch dates, etc.
The Starter Roadmap seems to support the ability to include milestones but I would like more control of the visual so that I could use it with executive leaders. I'm not sure if this was the intended use case, however, and could be risky if sharing with people that are not primary users of Aha!. I don't want them to be able to create anything! But I have found it allows me to show multiple workspaces with specific releases and specific milestones.
I agree with the other use cases. Another use case we are trying to solve is the ability to show roadmaps that contain private and public preview plans. Thus which features are planned for these milestones over the course of multiple releases on a graphical timeline, not just the due date/target ship date of the features. We need to roll this up across workspaces/product areas and group by workspace lines/product groups. If there is a better way to do this we'd love to hear it.
this would be great. for external reporting we currently have to manually superimpose 2 sets of screenshots onto each other from Aha roadmaps to achieve this which is manual, time consuming and prone to error.
Having the ability to have a set of milestones across the top of a roadmap with various Releases or Features beneath would be extremely helpful. A similar view to how the Epic Gantt chart looks with Release Dates across the top and Epics shown beneath. Even that chart is not available in a roadmap view.
Perhaps the solution is to be able to add to a Custom Roadmap view a Milestone set that would be a date of the User's choosing (Release Date, Feature Completion Date, Initiative Start Date, whatever...). This would be displayed across the top of the roadmap similar to the Epic Gantt chart view.
