Email creator from idea Merged

We often need to ask clarifying questions before making an idea public. For example, we might not understand their request or there might be a software defect that we need to troubleshoot. I don't want to discuss this publicly, so using public comments isn't a good fit.

I would love a way to email the creator from the idea and have it populate the email based on some settings:

  • Add the contact's email in the To field.

  • Populate the subject based on some configuration options (for example, this could be the name of the idea or "Follow-up on your Idea for [Product Name]")

  • Greeting like "Hi [First Name],"

  • Add a link to the idea on the portal so they can go back and read it.

I would then add my questions to the email and send. If this used my default email program on my computer, then it would automatically include my signature.

It would be extra nice if it could add a note to the idea that I had followed up on that date.

Today I have the following process:

  1. In Aha, click on the contact and copy the email address.

  2. Create an email in Outlook and paste the email address in the To field.

  3. Click Back on the contact to go back to the idea in Aha.

  4. Click on the Portals tab in Aha and copy the link to the idea on the portal.

  5. Paste the link in the Email so the customer can click on it to remember exactly what they posted. (Alternatively, I could copy/paste the name and description in the email, but I like to post the link to their idea.)

  6. Enter a subject and body for my email to the customer.

  7. Copy the email body into a private note on the idea so I remember my communication with the customer and my next steps.

We fix this by adding public comments and later deleting them once the idea has been clarified and once it goes public.
