To us portal urls are very unfriendly - it is quite common for our customer facing teams to socialise ideas with other internal users and raise them on behalf of a customer (who they'd make the creator). In cases where the idea is visibile only to creator/internal user and they get passed a link to the idea within the portal they receive a record not found 404 error as shown in attachment...
It would be much more desirable IMO if the record existed to be clear to the user that this idea has restricted visibility and they'll need to authenticate before being able to view.
If someone cannot access an idea link, the portal will now detect if they are logged in. If not, they will be prompted to sign in and will then be taken to the idea.

Raised as urgent as in our eyes this is a usability bug that is hugely problematic to our use case rather than a feature extension suggestion.
