I really love the simplicity of automation and would really like to make use of the feature much more.
One thing that is leaving me hesitant is having to manually add in individual user names to send emails or add a to-do or approval. Sure, you can use a custom field for a to-do/approval, but why do this when workflow approval groups can be maintained by the back office.
It would be so much easier if there was the option to select a workflow approval group, instead of selecting individual users. It is a shame that workflow approval groups only work for workflow and statuses.
This weekend, I had to create an automation with multiple triggers (which unfortunately meant multiple automations) and then had to add about 3 actions. Because this automation went across 24 workspaces, it took me about 15 hours to copy and move and then re-enter different names (hopefully I got them all correct). Workflow groups alone would have saved me about 10 hours and would have given me back my weekend : )
This means that I had a lot of time to think about how automation could be improved !!
Having an automation like this that triggers notifications based on particular statuses or field choices to individual users has now become a very large administration overhead.
This would really help us too - our GTM process include making cross-functional teams aware of plans and launch information. Right now I'm struggling with an effient way to do this.
Great idea! Being able to use workflow approval groups rather than adding names would be a time saver.
Thank you for sharing. This is a great idea!
