Copy multiple features from a template release AFTER the release is created Merged

We have a specific sets of features that we place into different types of releases. But at the time of release creation we may not know which features we needed to have in there, which is why cloning a release will not work. we need to be able to copy a set of features in bulk, copying one at a time is not an efficient use of our time. 

OR, copy a template release with its features into an existing release would be great, same thing just a different way to look at.

I have seen several suggestions to copy the release and then delete the features that are not needed. I am looking for a solution not a workaround.
