This benefits developers who would like to increase the functionality of Aha! applications, which in turn benefits all the Aha users at large by making everyone more productive!
Currently, the Aha! API User endpoints that return product_ids gives numeric IDs, which frankly are not human-friendly and troublesome for developers who would like to check which products a user already has access to. If instead of the numeric ID, the product prefix were returned instead, it would make developing with the API much easier, which in turn will lead to the quicker adoption of Aha! and related integrations.
Thank you for your idea. It is currently possible to get the prefix from the reference_prefix field on product endpoints if you wish to use that.
At this time we are unlikely to make changes to the IDs. We hope you can understand.
