There should be a way to configure if new ideas should be visible to private, employees or anyone as a default setting per each portal. I don't see why we would need to modify each manually. Better option would be to have this part of the workflow. I see a benefit of having the ability to change visibility options within the workflow. Workflow idea, changing of an idea to Product Manager Approved, trigger visibility change to employees and partners. This would allow our voters to get access to it and vote.
The use case Suzanne described works if you want all registered users to view all ideas. In our case, we want all employees to be able to register, but only view their own submitted ideas. In other words, I want all of the employees to be able to register and submit, but only want designated employee stakeholders to be able to view all ideas while all other registered users only view their own submissions.
Hi Nigel and others -- You can do this already. Set up a public portal, but also add specific email domains. For example, your "company.com" in your configuration. Now, anyone who wants to register with "name@company.com" will automatically be an employee/partner. All of their ideas will default to "employee/partner" visibility. This gives you the best of both worlds.
Been using Aha for a few weeks in trial mode only. Very impressed and will be looking to use as part of product management portfolio. It's frustrating to have to click 'employees' for every new idea. Should definitely be default setting.
