Provide customer-facing help text capability on predefined value idea portal fields

As of now, the "description" field on idea custom fields is for internal setup reference, and does not present as descriptive help text on an idea portal showing the field.

It would helpful (for any custom field type) to have an option to provide descriptive help text on the field that is customer-facing on the portal.

Now the ideas portal shows your customers a help tooltip next to each custom field that has a description.

As a customization admin in Aha!, go to Settings > Account > Custom fields to enter the description help text for a field. And if a custom field already has a description, you can override it for your portal in Portal settings > Terminology > Custom fields.

Having this on pre-defined picklist fields is very important to help our customers so that they select the correct value and thus provide us with accurate data from which to make better decisions.

The integer field allows me to add instructional text within the description, but there are more problems here as the character length is limited and the field doesn't automatically expand to display the full text. Instead it cuts off the text and the arrows for selecting an integer have disappeared, adding more confusion for the user.

Our forms typically have a mix of field types, so it's very inconsistent to have a Note field where you can see the whole "Description," a Text field where it is cut off due to the size of the box, and Predefined choice lists, etc. without a "Description" at all. I am all for the question mark icon to be consistent with the "Description" helper hints in the rest of the tool.

The description display is limited to one line in some field types which limits the information you can display. A standard tooltip would be better since it would allow for all information to be displayed. Please consider since this will be very helpful.

The most ideal functionality would be a question mark icon for custom fields.

Like Aha provides for the categories (see attachments)

This functionality would be very useful for our organization as well! On our current intake portal, some fields display the description and then the predefined choice custom fields don't allow for this, which limits our ability to provide instruction to the end user.

Hi Team, our regional users are looking to have this functionality enabled for  'predefined choice list' too.

Thanks, Dustin, for clarifying! I have updated the response and we will consider this idea for the future!

The admin response addresses the idea for fields with text boxes, but it does not exist for fields without text boxes, which would be most helpful.

It is not the portal form! It is what shows on the portal home screen.

It can be difficult to solicit the right information when making the curation of ideas efficient and user friendly. Adding tooltips would allow for the field names to remain short while allowing for further descriptions to elaborate on that item. ...

Tool tip on Predefined Choice List fields on Intake Form

Merged
On the intake form, the tool tip or description for any field that is a Predefined Choice List is blank. It would be nice to add the description like the other fields, or have a question mark available that people doing the entry can refer to.
