Let a user apply a global configuration to Feature Card Layout

Overview

Let users set a default configuration for Feature Cards and apply that layout across all products they are members of.

Background

I love the fact you can customise the layout of Feature cards to include exactly what you want them to show.

What is frustrating is that you appear to have to do this for each Feature card across all projects. There is no global setting to apply the changes.

Request

It would be great to have the option to apply the layout of a Feature card across all projects, on a per-user basis. If an Aha! admin already has the ability to set a baseline set of fields globally on cards, it may be worthwhile to tell regular users about this so they can work with their admins.

Suggested Implementation

MVP

On the Customise Feature Card screen:

  • Add a button beneath the Feature card sample labelled "Set as User Default"
  • when I click Set as User Default, the layout is applied to all other project Feature cards, of which I have access to.

i1 (optional)

If an Aha! admin already has the ability to set a baseline set of fields globally on cards, it may be worthwhile to tell regular users about this so they can work with their admins and other Product Owners and agree on defaults that more closely align to users' needs.

  • If activated in the Aha! Global Settings, display a "Suggest Default Layout" button.
  • when clicked, the changes to the Feature card are sent to the admin as a proposed layout.
  • the submission form has a justification text field as to why the proposed layout should be considered.

Ooh, this seems to be possible as described in https://big.ideas.aha.io/ideas/APP-I-3196

What is missing is letting regular users know that Feature card fields can be customised by the Admin.

With this in mind, I'd suggest the following:

    • On the Customise Feature Card screen, let users know that Admins can set default fields with a note or other textual admonition.
    • Consider implementing the MVP described above because it gives users control over what they view.
