As we're soliciting ideas from our internal teams, we'd like to make sure we keep the data quality high and all ideas into a proper category. Would be great if we could make Category a required field when submitting ideas.
It is now possible to make the standard Category field required in idea forms.
From Settings/Account/Custom Layouts/Ideas Form Tab -> create or select the layout to edit.
On the left, unfold the existing fields panel. There is a Categories element that you can drag and drop.
Thanks admin, could I please get some more guidance on how to do that. I'm reading the release notes that you link to and haven't wrapped my head around it.
In particular "You could always set required fields on ideas portal forms. " this makes it sounds like there's not a new feature around idea categories on that page?
why is this still not a required field?
Category also allows a multiple selection. Not sure if the custom field would allow that.
Even if it does, I agree that not having the same functionalities as oficial category field is not ideal.
The custom field doesn't work for me because I can't tier the information Example:
->Financial
costing
billing
-> Doc control
drawings
My best option so far has been to add a mandatory custom field called “category”. But then these metadata categories don’t show up on the frontpage of the ideas portal. Something they do if I use the Category feature (but then they cant be mandatory….)
