Move/copy personas and competitors from one product to another

We are planning another related improvement which may help. We are going to show product-line competitors and personas at the sub-product level. So that if you define these records for a product line, they are automatically shared across all products in that product line.

This feature will be coming relatively shortly, so you may want to avoid duplicating competitors or personas across products in a product-line.

On the persona or competitor have a product selector option to select one or more products. Then have that record visible on all selected products. Updating it once would immediately be reflected on all. However, I can see the need for different scoring per product, so the copy is a good first step, just hard when you want to update recent news or company size details etc.

Ryan can you expand on what you are looking for?

The move/copy option is a good start, but that is still a lot of manually work to update across multiple product lines. Would still be nice if it was related to one or more products and have it automatically roll up on the product lines and company levels as well as update in all products when it is changed.

Thanks for pointing that out Lonnie. We have deployed an update to fix this limitation. Now you can move records to product lines too.

Gaining the ability to move Personas to new owning Products is good. However, apparently, one cannot yet move a Persona from a Product to a Product Line. (At least I can't find a way to get it to move.)

This means that we cannot yet promote Product-specific Personas into Global Personas which could then be referenced throughout the Products Portfolio.

Being able to inherit would be cool!

This is exactly what I was looking for.  The ability to move or copy laterally, as well as up in a tree.

I could certainly use a feature like this and would suggest expanding the functionality to Business models as well. Right now I have the same persona's and business models across multiple products and I have copy and paste, which is time consuming.

Note that you can get global personas and competitors today. Just make a product line that corresponds to your company and place this product line at the top of your product line hierarchy. If you define you personas and competitors there, they will be globally available.

We also plan to implement the ability to move personas and competitors between products. We are currently working on some infrastructure improvements to support this more easily.

They could also cascade downwards like other custom fields?

Rather than defining personas on any particular product or level, you could instead define them elsewhere (globally) and then assign them to multiple business lines and/or products via drop down.
