Ability to sort master feature by date fields in a list report

The list report does not allow to be sorted by the master feature date fields (start date, due date). However, if I create a calculated date filed I can sort by that, but that makes the report display the date in 2 columns.

It seems like a basic functionality to be able to sort by a date field that is already added to the report.
