I've been using the new redesign for the past several days and I am overall finding it less efficient to access the data I need then before. One area that has been annoying and is requiring an extra click is that the comments tab of the ideas detail is defaulting to internal comments.
Public comments are much more common to interact with and it would be better to default these vs. internal.
Requesting to change the default on comments as it adds an extra staff for our teams to work through. Main issue being that we have to remember to switch it - and as noted earlier in comments - 95% + of our comments need to go to end users.
Hi,
Users of my company also use 95% of time public comments. Option to change default to public should be part of SETTINGS.
I am with @JuliePrice > we definitely see the value in private by default as we use both and I'd rather be safe than sorry. That said, we use public 95% of the time, so I would prefer this to NOT be in the same tab so I only have one-click to the comment type I want to leave.
My company also needs the comments to be public. 100% of our comments are meant for it to be public not private. Please make comments defaulted to public!!!
This is a significant issue with a large new ideation initiative. We want all comments on ideas to be public. We are in a pilot stage, but when we move to a general release over the next couple of months, this will be more and more urgent for us.
I agree, 99% of our comments are public.
Definitely need that as fast as possible - totally agree with previous comments that 99% of comments are public. This just added a big bunch of extra clicks in the daily work of our product managers...
Agree! Aha should at least provide an option for users to change the default view.
Agree that having to intentionally select public comment for the 99% of comments added seems contrary. Private comments are the exception and should be the "explicit action" as needed. Thanks for your consideration.
I strongly agree that this Idea should be taken seriously. We, too, ONLY use public comments, which means EVERY time I have to view or add a comment, it is an extra click (assuming I don't just accidentally post a private comment or miss the posted public comments, altogether).
Having said that, I appreciate the explanation for the current design, @julie. It makes sense to have a safeguard.. it just doesn't make sense to impose it on EVERY user.
PLEASE make this configurable.
Hello Julie,
In the old solution there were two tabs and it defaulted to public. I never had an issue with knowing what comment i was posting. It's less common to be adding a private comment versus a public one so i didn't mind having to click to add the private comment.
Commenting on this item as well. The drawers views are ok but the old layout was more efficient for our usage of Aha.
The biggest problem area is needing to click to switch to Public Comments. We use the tool internal exclusively so all of our comments are put in the Public Comments area so we have to click this on every item.
Thanks for the idea!
With the new design, we want it to be an explicit action to change your view to add a public comment so you don’t accidentally add a “private” to the public area.
However, your use case makes sense too. We'll continue to monitor this idea for feedback to better understand your use case and determine the best solution that works for all.
I completely agree. Why would the default view be the private comments? I setup alerts to alert me when a new idea topic has been added. I click the heading link to quickly view the entered comments and respond back, now i have to click 2 more times to start entering a response.
