Bulk edit categories for ideas

Like the bulk edit of the predefined choice list, it would be a great thing for the categories of the idea-portal. We offer different products with the same core, according to this we need to add the same list for every single product.

Now you can quickly add many categories at once. Go to Settings > Workspace > Categories and click the new “Bulk add categories” button. Type or copy/paste a bulleted list of nested categories and click the Add button.

We have another idea we are tracking for managing categories across multiple products. Please add your votes and comments. We will update that idea as we consider it for our roadmap. Thank you.

Thank you for shipping new functionality, but this does not address the original request. The idea (and Julie’s clarification in 2020) was to allow editing idea categories in one place and using them across workspaces. The recently released bulk import feature only responds to (part of) the 2024 comment, not the core need.

We still face the same challenge as the OP: maintaining a standard category list across multiple workspaces is time-consuming, prone to inconsistencies, and results in duplicate lists when filtering reports.

Please consider reopening the original idea for future development.

I would find it very useful to not only bulk edit existing values but also bulk import values, similar to the Predefined tags field type.

Additionally, an export of the choices would be nice! Right now, I have to take screenshots to communicate with colleagues about the set up of Categories.

    Thanks for the idea!

I wanted to clarify your use case:
You have multiple products that should use the same categories. Currently, you have to recreate the categories across each product and it is time consuming.

    Is that correct?
