Proxy Voting: Public Portal Use

It would be great if we could use proxy voting on a public facing ideas portal but have the proxy voting display only for internal users (i.e., like a private comment). Our use case is that we run a system with multiple versions of an application for different clients. Because many clients want similar or related features, we have on portal they all use.

However we would like to use proxy voting to capture how each client is prioritizing the features when it comes to decide on the next phases of enhancements. Currently we would have to either run two portals (one external facing and one internal) or use a custom score card for each client instead of proxy voting.

    Thank you for your idea. Proxy voting is not allowed in public portals for security purposes. That said, there are currently a couple ways you could accomplish the use case noted here:

    1. Aha! users can add proxy votes on ideas within Aha!, even when proxy voting is not enabled in a portal. This can be done by clicking the + icon in the proxy votes section of the idea details.

    2. If this needs to be done through a portal, you can add a private portal. Ideas in Aha! are related to workspaces. This means that even if you have two portals, the same ideas can be shown in both portals.

    Given the explanation and options above, we are unlikely to implement this idea. We hope you can understand.

    Hi Karie,

    That is correct. If you create a second ideas portal for proxy voting, the users in that portal can add ideas, search for ideas, and add proxy votes to those ideas.

    Hi Kelly, appreciate the quick reply. We are aware that we can have more than one portal. However, our goal was to publish one site for all. If we do the latter, our internal individuals are not able to provide proxy voting or public comments via Aha! as they are not provided those permissions. The only method to solve our issue is standing up an internal portal as well - and, if I understand, our internal users would need to locate the idea via the portal to add a proxy vote and to comment - correct?

    Thank you for taking the time to comment on this and share your use case!

    Apologies if you already know the info below - many people aren't aware of this and it may help your situation...

    If you create two portals for the same products/workspaces in Aha!, both portals will show all the same ideas, regardless of which portal they were created on. The only difference between the two portals is that you have customized the settings to be appropriate for the intended users. For example, in the private internal-only portal, you have enabled proxy voting. You can share the public portal link with your customers, and share the internal portal link with your internal teams. Everyone will see the same ideas.

    Let us know if that helps with the concern about adding a second portal for internal users. If not, I would love to understand more so that we can prioritize a solution.

    The issue with the Admin's solution is that Reviewers cannot proxy vote and those are the individuals who are most often needing to proxy vote as they are in the field with customers and prospects. They do not have paid licenses - but, need to log on behalf or vote on behalf of others .

    Making a portal private skirts the issue as well. It is important to have public portals. However, if in a meeting or a sales demo and discussions are around features, designs, etc, it is inefficient for that customer to have to go back to articulate in individual idea entries everything that was discussed - especially depending upon the roles of meeting attendees. Again, for efficiency, provide high level customer service, and to know which ones an account mgr or sales rep may be interested, it would be much easier to log the issue and submit the proxy vote - even if that proxy vote remains anonymous after submission, except for when logged in to Aha!. Again, reviewers can still go in to to Aha or have a report - but, to have to pass on the responsibility to another paid license user who doesn't have all the context leads to misunderstanding, lost ideas, and inefficiencies.

    Not providing ability for reviewers the ability to proxy vote yields the same problems.
