Update 4-5-4 retail calendar leap week handling to match NRF standards

What is the challenge?

  • Aha! Roadmaps can place the leap week (the 53rd week in a 53-week year) in the wrong fiscal year for retail 4-5-4 calendars.

  • The placement does not match the NRF 4-5-4 calendar standard that retail teams plan around.

  • Approximating NRF placement today requires adjusting calendar-start and weekday-rounding settings, which is fragile and easy to get wrong.

What is the impact?

  • Reporting periods, quarters, and fiscal year labels come out incorrect on roadmap and calendar views.

  • Retail teams lose confidence in the calendar because it does not align with the industry standard they expect.

Describe your idea.

  • For the retail 4-5-4 calendar, follow NRF industry standards for leap-week placement by default.

  • Apply the 53rd week to the fiscal year NRF assigns, with no manual setting changes needed.

  • Keep quarter and fiscal year labels consistent everywhere they are derived from the retail calendar.

We have updated the retail 4-5-4 calendar to follow the National Retail Federation (NRF) standard, including placement of the 53rd week in leap-week years.

Retail calendars now align automatically with the NRF calendar, so you no longer need to adjust fiscal-year start or weekday-rounding settings to approximate the standard. This keeps fiscal year and quarter labels consistent with the calendar retailers expect.

NRF fiscal calendar for FY27 ends on Jan 30 but Aha! is showing Feb 6 (so, 4-5-5). From what I understand, NRF adds the extra week only once every 5-6 yrs and I believe the last time was in 2023.
