Make the TestRail Integration Available in Aha! Roadmaps

What is the challenge?
  • The TestRail integration is currently available for Aha! Develop, but not Aha! Roadmaps. This creates a gap for teams that use Aha! Roadmaps as the system of record for product planning, feature definition, requirements management, release planning, and early test planning.

    For many organizations, test planning begins before development work moves into Aha! Develop. Test coverage, validation strategy, acceptance criteria, and release readiness planning often start at the roadmap, epic, feature, or requirement level. Without TestRail integration in Aha! Roadmaps, teams cannot connect product requirements and planned work directly to test cases, test runs, execution status, or validation outcomes during the planning phase.

    Teams cannot easily:

  • Link Aha! Roadmaps features, requirements, epics, or releases to TestRail test cases.

  • Plan test coverage while requirements are still being defined.

  • Build Requirements Traceability Matrix reports from Roadmaps records to TestRail tests.

  • Report on validation readiness before work reaches Aha! Develop.

  • Assess release readiness by combining roadmap delivery status with QA validation progress.

  • View test coverage and execution status from the same place where release scope is managed.

What is the impact?
  • Aha! Roadmaps is where product teams define scope, manage requirements, plan releases, and make prioritization decisions. TestRail is where QA teams manage test design and execution. Without an integration between the two, product, engineering, QA, and release management teams must manually reconcile planning and validation data across systems.

    This creates several challenges:

    • Limited traceability — Product requirements in Aha! Roadmaps cannot be directly traced to TestRail test cases and execution results.

    • Incomplete release readiness reporting — Teams can see planned scope and delivery status in Aha!, but must go to TestRail to understand validation progress.

    • Manual reporting overhead — Teams must export, cross-reference, or manually maintain data between Aha! Roadmaps and TestRail.

    • Delayed QA involvement — Test planning is disconnected from the earliest stages of product and release planning.

    • Reduced governance confidence — Release decisions require a complete view of scope, delivery progress, test coverage, execution results, and accepted risks.

    • Fragmented source of truth — Aha! Roadmaps cannot serve as a comprehensive planning and release governance platform when validation data is only available elsewhere.

    This is especially impactful for organizations that use Aha! Roadmaps as their primary planning tool, even if engineering teams later execute delivery work in Aha! Develop or another development system.

  • Extend the existing TestRail integration so it is available in Aha! Roadmaps, in addition to Aha! Develop.

    The integration should allow Aha! Roadmaps records such as releases, epics, features, and requirements to be linked to TestRail test cases, test suites, test runs, test plans, and execution results.

    Ideally, TestRail data should be exposed in Aha! Roadmaps as structured, reportable fields rather than display-only content. This would allow teams to filter, query, report, and dashboard on validation status directly within Aha!.

    Recommended synced or reportable fields include:

    • Test Case ID

    • Test Case Name

    • Test Suite

    • Test Plan

    • Test Run

    • Test Status

    • Latest Execution Result

    • Execution Date

    • Linked Requirement, Feature, Epic, or Release

    • Test Coverage Status

    • Passed / Failed / Blocked / Not Run counts

    • Defect or issue reference, where applicable

    • Failure disposition, where TestRail supports it, such as accepted limitation, deferred defect, approved exception, or unresolved failure

    This would allow Aha! Roadmaps users to create native reports and dashboards showing:

    • Requirements Traceability Matrix reporting

    • Feature-level test coverage

    • Release-level test coverage

    • Passed, failed, blocked, and not-run test status

    • Validation readiness by release

    • Features with no associated test coverage

    • Requirements with failed or blocked tests

    • Release scope with unresolved validation risk

    • Delivery progress combined with QA validation progress

    Making the TestRail integration available in Aha! Roadmaps would support the full lifecycle of planning, delivery, validation, and release governance.

    It would allow teams to begin test planning where the work begins: in Roadmaps. QA teams could align test cases to requirements earlier, product teams could understand validation coverage before release decisions, and leadership could assess readiness without manually combining data from multiple systems.

    This enhancement would not replace TestRail as the test execution system of record. Instead, it would make Aha! Roadmaps a stronger planning and reporting hub by surfacing the right TestRail data in the context of roadmap scope, requirements, and release plans.
