Remove individual team member cap for "Parallel planning" daily allocation in capacity planning

What is the challenge?
  • Currently, when utilizing "Parallel Planning" on the Team capacity report, the daily potential allocation for each record is capped at the capacity of an individual user. So, if there are 10 members on a capacity team who work 6h/day each, and an estimate is entered for the overall team, the report will not allocate more than 6h/day to each record.

What is the impact?
  • When estimates are entered at the team level without being broken down into individuals, it is typically the assumption that multiple team members might contribute to that record. In the above example, it should be possible to allocate as many as 60h/day for the first record on the list, as there are 10 total team members. The "Sequential Planning" pathway works under this logic.

Describe your idea.
  • When an advanced estimate is set at a team level, and that team has multiple team members, take their group availability into consideration when determining the daily allocation of the estimate across that record's date range.
