Ability to sort custom table records in field dropdown and filters

What is the challenge?

• Custom table entries default to sorting by entry order. You can re-sort the table by any column, but this sort doesn't stick, nor does sorting the custom table have any effect on the fields associated with the custom table.

• The options from the custom table default to alphabetical sort when viewing the dropdown in the respective custom field.

• The options from the custom table default to entry order when viewing the picklist options in a filter based on the custom field associated with the custom table.

What is the impact?

• This increases the time it takes to find the option a user is looking for, especially in a long list, negatively affecting workflow efficiency and increasing frustration.

Describe your idea.

• Would like the ability to choose the sort order seen in the dropdown and/or the filter options. Ideally, sorting the custom table itself would a) stick and b) affect the sort order of the dropdown and/or filter options, but at the very least being able to sort the dropdown options on a selected column from the custom table would help.
