Support business-day–based calculated fields for automated RAG status and roadmap coloring

What is the challenge?

Today, Aha! calculated fields do not support business-day–based date calculations (excluding weekends). Because of this limitation, it is not possible to accurately calculate projected progress for initiatives based on elapsed working days (Monday–Friday).

As a result, customers cannot natively compare actual progress against expected progress over business days to automatically derive delivery risk (RAG status).

What is the impact?

Teams cannot reliably automate delivery risk / RAG status for initiatives.

Roadmap bar coloring cannot be dynamically driven by realistic, working-day–based projections.

Users are forced to rely on external tools (e.g., Excel, Power Query) to perform calculations and then manually or repeatedly import results back into Aha!.

This introduces extra maintenance, risk of data inconsistencies, and reduces confidence in roadmap health reporting.

The lack of native support limits Aha!’s ability to serve as a single source of truth for execution tracking and delivery confidence.

Describe your idea

Introduce native support for business-day–aware calculated fields in Aha!, including the ability to:

  • Calculate total business days between two dates (excluding weekends, and ideally configurable holidays)

  • Calculate elapsed business days from a start date to today

  • Use these calculations to derive projected progress as a percentage

  • Compare projected progress to actual progress

  • Automatically return a result (e.g., On Track / At Risk / Off Track) that can populate a single-select field

  • Use that field to dynamically control roadmap bar colors

Example use case:
Projected progress = (Business days elapsed ÷ Total business days) × 100
RAG status derived by comparing projected vs actual progress with configurable thresholds.

This capability would enable fully automated, accurate delivery risk reporting and significantly improve roadmap trustworthiness without requiring external tools or manual imports.
