Multi-select field capability

Need ability to allow users to select more than one value for a field that they do not have the option to add to - it is administrator controlled because the accuracy of the data is important for data integrity and reporting. For example we want to denote what ideas, enhancements, or defects are associated with specific customers or specific key customers. Customer names can be long and often abbreviated. People having the ability to input whatever they want because they don't see the value they are looking for (especially if they decide to shorten e.g. PT for Physical Therapy), makes ongoing maintenance required -- especially before utilization of key reports.

it also makes it challenging to integrate with other systems - whether salesforce or Jira because they allow for integration only between similar field types. These other systems have he ability to configure a multi-select controlled list (vs an editable list).

It makes it impossible to gather and share this information automatically - relying on comments to sync, someone to see them, and manual updates.

Thanks, Chrissi, we converted to using that field type and that works. Thank you!

Thanks for following up. With a pre-defined tags field, users can select multiple values but only from a controlled list of choices pre-defined by your admins. This Aha! field can be mapped bi-directionally to 'Select list (multiple choices)' in Jira. This will allow you to have a field that is a multi-select controlled list in both systems that stay in sync with one another.

Please reach out to our Customer Success team at support@aha.io if you run into additional questions while setting this up.

That is what we did; however, it doesn't work with other systems and it also allows users still to create their own. The same reason you want a single select list value in order to control values for data integrity - you want the same for multiple values.

In this instance, we tried to integrate with Jira and can't because the data types don't match. You can only associate an Aha tags type field with a Jira labels field. However, Jira labels allows for anyone to create values and also doesn't support values with spaces. It is too easy for users to create values by accident and then we also end up with values in Aha! that we don't want.

Our uses cases are specifically capturing requests, defects and enhancements where we want to associate the customers who have requested/reported; or we want to associate the respective reports that we offer.

If I had customer like Kentucky Fried Chicken, Taco Bueno, Taco Bell, and International House of Pancakes, I want to ensure that we are identifying all enhancements/ideas/defects that these customers care about. I don't want some folks adding in KFC vs Kentucky Fried Chicken vs Kentucky_Fried_Chicken, kfc, kentuckyfried, etc.

Have the ability to control what your users select to maintain data integrity for accurate reporting is essential.

Hi there! You can create a custom predefined tags field that will allow your users to choose multiple values from a list of choices that are pre-defined by your admins.
Is this what you are looking for?
