Separate release cadence for stories and epics

Epics and Stories are two different constructs and should have separate release cadences.

For us epics usually span for a quarter or more whereas stories are delivered within a biweekly sprint.

My product team follows a unified quarterly planning process for Epics. SO we create our releases as quarters and now I am forced to track stories in the quarterly cadence as well .

Creating custom field for sprints and reporting on it isn’t working for me because of these reasons

1. It’s hard for teams to read reports compared to the story board view

2. I can’t show a prioritized backlog within the report.

3. I can’t move stories around across releases or within the same release in a report as I easily do it on the story board.
