Allow Read Only records to become disabled once data is inputted

We like the idea of read only fields to capture initial data but prevent further edits. Currently if a custom field is marked as read only data can't be inputted which seems to defeat the object of creating a field. It is fine on a bulk import, but not for one time data capture.

Hi there, this is currently possible using advanced custom layouts (which is available on the Enterprise+ plan.) Using these layouts you can have fields editable initially and then set to read-only once the record reaches a certain status.

Totally agree - Currently Read only fields are not able to be used effectively except in bulk imports, and these bypass mandatory field restrictions.

An ideal solution for me personally would be to have a field be either read only, or read only once completed. This would allow the entry of data at a later time to lock the field.
