Rollup goal sort order options in reports

Currently when using "Rollup to goal" in a pivot or other report, it's not clear what the sort ascending/descending options for "Rollup to goal" are doing, but they're not useful.

Two ideas for good support here ordered by priority (both would be useful, the first seems like a quick fix):

  1. By default, the ascending and descending sort options for "Rollup to goal" should be alphabetical based on the name of the rollup goal. With this change at least rollup goals could be named with a prefix to force their sorting in reports.
  2. Support sort by "Rollup to goal rank". This is to get a view of rollup goals sorted by their rank at a product line level along with initiatives in products that ladder to them (e.g. product initiatives are tied to product goals and product goals rollup to product line goals, a selectable field for "Rollup to goal rank" as a sort option would make these reports much nicer).

    Thank you for your idea. The default sort order for Rollup to goal is rank. This can get a little confusing when you have rollup to goals from different product lines in a single report, but they will still sort by rank. For example, your number 1 goal from product line A will come before your number 2 goal from product line B.

    Your response does not cover the use case I'm describing so "Already exists" is not true. See attached screenshots demonstrating the issue.

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Create a Product Line "Product Line 1" with goals entered in this order:
      1. "5-Goal HFG"
      2. "1-Goal ABC"
      3. "4-Goal ZXY"
      4. "10-Goal DEF"
      5. "9-Goal NML"
    2. Re-order the goals so that they are ranked 1, 4, 5, 9, 10.
    3. Create products under Product Line "Product Line 1" with goals and initiatives entered in this order:
      1. "Product 1"
        1. "Goal X"
          1. Rollup to Goal: "9-Goal NML"
        2. "Goal R"
          1. Rollup to Goal: "10-Goal DEF"
        3. "Initiative X"
          1. Tied to "Goal X"
        4. "Initiative R"
          1. Tied to "Goal R"
      2. "Product 2"
        1. "Goal E"
          1. Rollup to Goal: "10-Goal DEF"
        2. "Goal D"
          1. Rollup to Goal: "4-Goal ZXY"
        3. "Initiative D"
          1. Tied to "Goal D"
        4. "Initiative E"
          1. Tied to "Goal E"
    4. Now create a pivot report starting with "Initiative name" with the following:
      1. Rows: "Rollup to Goal", sort by Rollup to goal ascending
      2. Columns: "Initiative time frame"
      3. Cells: "Initiative name"
    5. Result: The "Rollup to Goal" row headers are not ordered by goal rank, and they are not ordered alphabetically either. Try switching to descending sort on Rollup to goal -- still doesn't make any sense.
